Can you live outside KL but work in KL ?
I try to analyze the data. Are we able to work at KL but live outside KL? Well given that house price in KL is too expensive to buy, more than affordable for rental. But the prices is way lower should you go far out of KL. For example like the place I am living now, Rawang.
But does the cheaper price of houses justify the travelling cost included?
Lets do the math.
For example the current job that I applied, the work days is 6 days a week. That means working on saturday. Lets take out our calculator.
First is travel by car. Assuming you already own one. The cost involve is:
- Fuel: RM10 daily (back and forth about RM60/week)
- Toll: RM7.20 daily (back and forth)
- Parking: RM3 ~ RM6 daily/entry (depend on where the parking lot is)
- Total daily is: RM20.20 ~ 23.20
- Total monthly: RM464.60 ~ 533.60 (assuming 23 days work per month)
Second is to travel by public transport
- Bus: RM2.40 daily (back and forth to Rawang KTM station)
- Train: RM6.60 daily (back and forth Rawang – KL)
- Total daily: RM9.00
- Total monthly: RM207
But if you were to take normal road and find free parking, the cost by traveling with car is just RM10 for fuel. Unless you stuck on long hours jam and risk of empty fuel tank… You’re force to re-fill petrol and it will cost more than RM10 daily. So the monthly cost is around RM230++ but you got to go early to grab the free parking space.
The other things is you can’t predict anything to happen everyday. You could be facing on heavy traffic jam. You also could be facing with problematic KTM train. Both will make you arrive late for work. At least in your own car, you still looks ok. In tin sardine KTM and delayed, you would looks like…. uh! And smell… (especially going back home).
Parking in KL is terrible. If your company got adequate parking at the building, maybe driving your own car wouldnt be a problem. Or you could just paid for monthly parking at any parking lot.
I would say taking public transport is the cheapest way to go. But once reach KL, you need to walk a bit to go to your workplace. It does help if your workplace is closer to any train station. On bright day I will enjoy walking to my office. On a rainy day… Not as much. Need to bring extra shoes… And umbrella of course
Done Final Exam
Finally done.
Not so bad, but not that good either. Just look at my previous post, last minute trying to remember all those stuff. Haha. At least I did remember lah.
Next task is project presentation.
Next week got 2 job interview. Wuhuu!
Birthday
Happy Birthday To Me … And why this song is related? Just the keyword birthday. Not the other one
lol.
Techno & Trance song
My partner in FYP used to make faces when I start to listen to my preferred song to help me during our FYP project development. Why? I used earphone, but I turn it so high that it can be heard quite loud. Lol.
Not only her (my partner), my gf also hate this kind of song. When I blast this music in my car she would scream that this music make her head hurts. Ouch! Maybe I did blast it too loud
Lol again.
I don’t remember when did I start to like this kind of music. When I was teenager I used to listen to Malays pop song. From Siti Nurhaliza to those boy band (forget already). All about love. Bla bla bla.
Then I start to know Butterfingers. I save my school money to buy their originalĀ cassette. Then I start to know those underground music. Start buying ROTTW mags.
But I dont recall when did I start to listen to this kind of music.
What I like is, it make me type faster (with minimal error) and not making me sleepy staring at the monitor with all those line of codes! As far as I know nobody in my circle of friends enjoy the same music as me.
I dont go to club though. So I dont know the DJ or the competition or whatever (to write like this shows that I dont know anything about it, haha). I prefer to listen in my complete privacy.
This is how I enjoy the music
Its great. You should try it.
BBQ Chicken Rice + Cincau Selasih @ Tesco Rawang
I need to shop for new shoes. And I choose to go to Tesco Rawang. Why? Why Tesco? Because since it’s opening (I think early this year?) never been there for shopping.
Anyway before going for my shoes, I need to eat something. I look around their food court (Medan Selera in Malay). I find the Chicken Rice is looking good. And cheap too
This is BBQ CHicken Rice. The rice is hot. The soup is hot. But the chicken is cold…. Well… What can you expect for such a cheap price? It would be better even if they re-heat the chicken first. The sauce is salty. My mistake for not tasting it first instead pour it all over the chicken. RM5 only.
This is Cincau Selasih. But I think I saw the writings is Cincau Selisih … What is Selisih? RM1.60. I like Cincau. I like Cincau in ICE blend
So total spend on food is RM6.60. Cheap eh? Convert to usd… USD 2 only!
